ANNUAL REPORT 2009-2010

I submit the annual report of the academic year 2009-2010 at the Lotus Feet of our Poojya Gurudev.May this New Year give us the strength to work united with co-operation.

  The academic session of this year commenced in May 2009 with classes for Std X and XII.

   The school re-opened on 1^st June 2009.New admission joined the Chinmaya family and we welcome them whole heartedly.

The board exams for the academic year 2008-2009 were conducted for class X and XII.Ajeesh Babu was the top scorer of class X with 94%. Amritha Tilak was the top scorer of class XII

  For the smooth functioning of the academic sessions the subject councils were formed for the different subjects.The departmental heads were selected and meetings were conducted every month.This has helped the teachers to discuss about the portions,to analyse the methods of assessment,to take the remedial measures,etc.The departmental heads are Resmi.S(Maths),Lalithambika.P.S(Science),Sumutha(English),Sreekumari(Hindi),Subhadevi(Malayalam),Reshmy.L(Social Science) and Jaya.B(Nursery).Other than this our teachers attend the subject council meetings held at Trivandrum once in a month.

  Gurupoornima,the birthday of Ved Vyasa,was celebrated in the vidyalaya .Smt RemaBai ,Smt.SubhaDevi and Smt.Indira Bai addressed the children and explained the importance of Guru.Teachers and students chanted Gurustotram,Gurupadukastotram and Bhajans.

   Chinmaya Samadhi was observed in the vidyalaya.Swamini Divyananda Saraswathi conducted Gurupaduka pooja on that occasion.She addressed the students and teachers.

    The Ramayana month was celebrated by the recital of Ramayana by teachers and students.As the Chinmaya Mission had arranged Ramayana Yajnas all over Kollam for the Ramayana month.Swamini Divyananda conducted Yajna in the school .Competition were held in the vidyalaya based on the Ramayana.

  In the Ramayana Recitation for Juniors,Sanumol S.J of VIII-A bagged First prize,Archana.G.R  and Akhil.S won the second and third prizes respectively.

Children took part in the Ramayana Recitation and Quiz competition conducted by the Puthiyakavu temple,kollam.

Quiz Competition:

Juniors:  First prize was bagged by Athira Sivan & Jeevanand.

Devanand of class X won I prize for Ramayana Recitation(Seniors).

Amrutha Chandran & Devanand of class X won the second prize for Quiz Competition(Seniors).

Mathrupooja was conducted in the vidyalaya on the Navami day in connection with Navarathri festival.Smt.Parvathy,Treasurer,Chinmaya Mission conducted the pooja and almost 110 students and their mothers attended the pooja.All the teaching & non-teaching staff attended the pooja.

Ardra of class VIIIA bagged the I prize for the YMCA State Level Championship for the under 13 section and was selected for the National level.Abhijith Sharma of class VA won second prize in the junior level of Chess championship.

The talent and potential in children other than the scholastic areas was evaluated int the Arts Competitions held in the vidyalaya.The children were able to bring out their hidden talents.Archana.G.R of class VII is the Arts Champion of the year 2009-2010.

Independence Day celebrations were held in the vidyalaya.Teaching,non-teaching staff and students attended the function.March past and display were also held.The children and staff saluted the National Flag and sang patriotic songs.House wise patriotic song competitions were held in connection with Independence Day.Vivekananda house bagged first prize.Ramakrishna house got the second position and Sankara house won the third place.

 Vivekananda house won the first prize for the Display competition.Ramakrishna house and Chinmaya house got the second and third places respectively.

Sankara house bagged the first prize for March past competition.Vivekananda house and Chinmaya house got the second and third prizes respectively.Inter house cricket tournament was held in the vidyalaya on Independence Day and Sankara house bagged the trophy.

Onam was celebrated in the vidyalaya .Children and the staff prepared flower carpets.Children sang songs and enjoyed dancing.The KG section also prepared a flower carpet and children enjoyed seeing Vamana and Mahabali amongst them.Sweets were distributed.The staff of the vidyalaya had a get-together enjoying the Onam Feast.

According to the new syllabus followed in KG section,under the guidance of Sri.Joseph,orientation was given to the KG teachers.With the whole hearted support of the management we are able to implement the system effectively.Mr.Joseph also assessed whether the system is being implemented in the right manner.Children understand each and everything without any stress and strain which really helps the intellect.

Vegetables and fruits are very important for a healthy life.Vegetable Day and Fruit Day is introduced in KG section.They bring fruits and vegetables and sit in different groups and share among themselves.Snacks are totally avoided.

The CCMT Edn Cell Inspection was held on 30^th October 2009.Smt.Usha Mohan,Principal,Chinmaya Vidyalaya,Tripunithara,Member of the CCMT Edn.Cell Coimbatore inspected the assembly and classes and gave valuable tips to teachers.While addressing the teachers she mentioned about the total change in both academic and infrastructure in the vidyalaya.

CBSE has introduced the Semester System with Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation from class IX onwards.All the subject teachers taking classes in std IX had a meeting in the Trust office ,Trivandrum for the re-arrangement of the year plan according to the new concept.With the support of the Management ,meetings,training programmes and discussions were held.The CBSE also conducted special meetings in kollam which was attended by the Principal and senior teachers.

A special meeting was arranged for the parents  of class IX and the Correspondent and the Principal addressed them and informed about the changes in the system.

Science Exhibition was held in the vidyalaya on 6^th November 2009.The teachers inspired the enthusiastic children enabling them to prepare the projects,charts ,etc.Mathematics ,Physics,Chemistry and Biology department had their items for exhibition.The KG section also had their items displayed.

Food Festival was another major attraction for the staff and the students.The teaching and non-teaching staff prepared food items and it was really a thrilling experience for the students.

Mathematics and Science departments conducted House Wise Quiz Competitions.

In the Mathematics Quiz Competition Lebin.L(XII) and Kiran.P(XI) of the Ramakrishna House (Senior Secondary Section) bagged the First prize.

Rishi Raj & Aravind Mulleth(both of class XI) of Sankara House bagged the Second prize.

In the Secondary level first prize was bagged by Malavika.S and Pavithra.B.L of Vivekananda House of class X.Gayathri.S.Pillai and Neethu .S of class VIII bagged the second prize for Sankara house.

In the Science Quiz Competition for the senior section Ajeesh Babu(XI) and Arun Krishnan(VIII) of Tapovana house and Gururaj.S.R(X) and Devanand.A(X) of Ramakrishna house bagged the first prize for the senior section.Sreehari.M.S(IX) and Subhash Mohan(IX) of Chinmaya house bagged the second prize.

In the junior section Athira Sivan(VII) and Sreeraj.S.R(V) of Tapovana house won the first prize.Akhil.S(VII) and Archana.G.R(VII) of Sankara house bagged the second prize.

To find out the talents in the sports field Sports Day was conducted on 30^th December 2009.Classes I-XII were divided into four groups and students actively took part in it.

Vishnu.G.Prasad is the sports Champion of the year 2009-2010.

The academic sessions would be complete only when the children get  relaxed by visiting places of natural beauty,cultural and scientific importance.The students of class I-Iv visited Kumaranashan Memorial Park at Thonnakkal and Zoo and Museum at Thiruvananthapuram.

The students of class V-VIII visited the Planetorium and Science Museum at Trivandrum.It was a wonderful experience for the children.

Scouts and Guides activities function very actively in this vidyalaya.

Sri. Harikumar,the Scoutmaster of Chinmaya Vidyalas,Trivandrum and Kollam and Guide teachers Smt.RemaBai and Reshmy.L of Chinmaya Vidyalaya,Kollam guide the students.

I feel very proud to mention the name of Abhilash of class XI,the Scout Leader for receiving the Rajyapuraskar.It is only because of his sincere efforts he was able to attain this position.He initiatively takes responsibilities to guide other scout students very sincerely.I congratulate him for this achievement and wish him all success in his future endevours.

CCMT Edn Cell ,Coimbatore give scholarship to students who are financially weak but scoring more than 80% in all subjects.Lebin.L of class XI received last year’s scholarship from CCMT Edn Cell.

Inter Chinmaya Khel Mela will be held at Chinmaya International Residential School,Coimbatore from 3^rd-5^th January 2010 .Six athletes of our vidyalaya are taking part in the Khel Mela.We express our thanks to our Physical Education Master,Mr.Shajan Varghese for the sincere coaching of our athletes.We wish them all success on this occasion.

SPICMACAY-Society for Promoting Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth is purely educational in spirit and character and gives opportunities for students to see and enjoy the performance by eminent artistes to see and to interact with them in an informal atmosphere.State Convention of SPICMACAY  is being held at Kasargode from 8^th -10^th of January 2010.16 students of class VIII & IX and two teachers of our vidyalaya are attending the Convention.It will really give them great experience with wonderful artistes.

Inter Chinmaya Gita Competition was held at Chinmaya Vidyalaya,Vazhuthacaud,Trivandrum.Archana.G.R(VII) got second prize in the Junior Section and Ganesh(II) got Consolation prize in the Kids Section.

Being a Senior Secondary School,to update relevant matters and to get more informations from CBSE we joined the South Zone Sahodaya.

We thank the Management for the whole hearted support we get from them.This academic year we got a building with six classrooms and in the near future ,a KG park will be set up.

I hope that in the coming years we will be able to achieve more laurels in the scholastic and co-scholastic areas with the co-operation of the teachers ,parents and the students.

We invoke the blessings of the Almighty and our  Poojya Gurudev  on this New Year to help us to achieve all success in all the endevours and enable us to be very optimistic.
